Gian Maria Bocchini
I am from the very small village (150 inhabitants) of Conca Casale (Molise, Italy) where I lived until I was 19 years old. Then I started my educational journey that brought me in different Cities and Countries, including: Chieti (Italy), Oulu (Finland), Pavia (Italy), Christchurch (New Zealand), Athens (Greece), Kiel (Germany), and Bochum (Germany). During my educational journey I had the opportunity to learn from many great scientists about the fascinating world of earthquakes, from the physical mechanisms behind their genesis to the mitigation strategies. In addition, I had the great opportunity to work together with people from different countries and establish fruitful collaborations. Today I feel a World citizen, although Italy and Greece have a special place in my heart.
I am currently a PostDoc at the Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany. My research interests include:

- Static and dynamic earthquake triggering;
- Slow earthquakes and fault slip modes;
- Spatio-temporal clustering of seismicity and underlying processes;
- Active tectonics and seismotectonics of subduction zones;
- Crustal stress and strength.
